Dimitris Tragkas was born on 23 Arpil 1953 inAthens, Greece. He studied at the Vakalo School of Art and Design (1972-1975) with Yannis Valavanidis and Panayotis Tetsis. He lives and works in Athens. His work is included in art collections in Greece and abroad.

In the course of his artistic career Dimitris Tragkas assumed also the following roles:
- Stage Designer for the theater.
- Actor in the cinema in major roles with directors such as Alexis Damianos (The Charioteer 1992) and Dimos Avdeliodis (The Spring Assembly of Guards 1998).
- Musician in collaboration with freelance groups.
- Chess Player competing in Greek Championship (1983-1985) and teaching chess to children and adolescents.
- Teacher of Painting in the Education Program of the Municipality of Athens (1985-1989) and Head of Art Courses in schools of the Primary School I.M. Panayotopoulos (1992-2005).
- Martial Arts Athlete – Shotokan Karate (1988 – today) taking part in the Greek Championship (1993-1996).
- Photographer with experience in travel photography.
